CenTex HomeSchool nudged by Grace Academy

In Friday's non-league game, the Grace Academy (Georgetown, TX) football team edged the host CenTex HomeSchool Chargers (Temple, TX), by a tally of 74-73.


In what ended up being a barn burner of a sixman game, the Griffins kicked their extra point in overtime while Centex was unable to go for 2 points all night. While there were many gutty performances from the Griffins, the foot of Evan Hoyt was the difference as Grace scored 8 additional points on extra points.


Hoyt also made a number of key throws completing 3-7 for 107 yards and 3 TDs with the last one coming on the last play of regulation to Josh Moore which sent the game into overtime. Hunter Maxwell also added 201 tough rushing yards on 20 carries and 2 TDs.


Defensively, the Griffins were paced by Isaiah Gonzales' 14 tackles and fumble recoveries from Samual Moore, Bejamin Leeman and Hoyt. the Moore brothers also combined for 17 tackles (Josh 10, Samual 7) and three TFL.


"That was my first overtime game in sixman football and I am glad that we were able to pull it out," commented Coach Golemon. "I thought we did what we needed to do to stay in the game against an opponent who had a deeper bench and alot more experienced players. We stole one tonight!"


In their next game, the battle the Williamson County HomeSchool (Austin, TX) in a non-league game, on Friday, October 18. Grace Academy will attempt to better on its 5-2 season record. The enter the game with a 6-0 record after their 76-44 non-league win over Valor South Austin (Austin, TX).
