November 1, 2024
The crowd at Friday's league contest between the Grace Academy (Georgetown, TX) and the visiting Hill County Wolves (Hillsboro, TX), witnessed Grace Academy's football squad wallop Hill County by a tally of 58-13.
The win allowed the Griffins to cement themselves as first place in the South Region and first place overall in Division 3 at the end of the season. The first place finishes in botgh the Region and Division ensures the Griffins will be the home team throughout the playoffs.
Unfortunately, Hunter Maxwell suffered and ankle injury in the third quarter which took him out of the game and would subsequenly take him out of the playoffs. He would finish the season with 1882 yds, on 195 carries with40 TDs while only turning the ball over twice.
"Hunter is the most improved runner from the previous season I have ever coached," said Coach Golemon. "His ability to run North/South and hold onto the football is a large reason we finished the season in first place. He will be very difficult to replace in the playoffs."
The Griffins will have to wait for the MaxPreps rankings to come out before they know who they will play in the quarterfinals as the first place finish will give them a bye week in the opening round of the 14 team playoff.
