Samuel Osborn scored all six of Bastrop Tribe Consolidated’s touchdowns in a 46-0 mercy rule victory over San Antonio FEAST in the quarterfinals of the TAIAO Division I six-man football quarterfinals at home on Friday.
Osborn, a senior, had touchdowns of 29 and 26 yards in the first quarter and 23, 53, 33, and 16 yards in the second quarter.
“In the playoffs, it is about getting to the next game as fast as possible, and we were not taking any chances,” Tribe coach Brent Golemon said in an email. ”(There was) no need to pound on their big guys when we could just run around them.”
Osborn rushed for 215 yards and has accumulated 2,558 yards for the season. He has scored 52 touchdowns.
Tribe (9-1) allowed only three first downs, one by penalty.
“Our defense was too much for them,” Golemon said.
Lake Mills, a linebacker, recorded 12 tackles, including 7 solo on defense. Travis Guy made six tackles, while Osborn added five tackles and had an interception.
FEAST ended its season at 4-6.
The Warrior, are ranked No. 26 among all six-man teams in the state. They will next face Dallas UME Preparatory Academy in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday in Buckholts.
UME Preparatory Academy (5-3) defeated Fort Worth THESA 47-20 on Friday to advance.
“They will pass out of the spread or tight (offensive formation), and most of their yards come on the run after catching the pass,” Golemon said.
Playing in the other TAIAO semifinal are Johnson City and Austin Royals. Tribe defeated both teams during the regular season.
